TMTF's Mission to bring education to the door steps of the underprivileged
"Teach Me To Fish (TMTF) Educates, inspires and instills hope for the future through education sponsorship"
Teach Me To Fish Foundation (TMTF) was founded to make dreams come true through education. We support underprivileged children through school by providing them with basic school needs like books, pencils, uniforms and most importantly their school fees.
Our goal is to teach them to fend for themselves by equipping them for the future through education. We seek to better their lives, their families and the country as a whole.
It is an unquantifiable way of helping the poorest children in our communities. With a donation that costs next to nothing, we can show them the way to a better future instead of leaving them to grow on the streets, on the farms, on the markets and at unknown places which could endanger their lives and their future when they could be in a classroom learning all they require to lead a better life forever.
TeachMeToFish is an educational sponsorship organisation set up in the United Kingdom to assist underprivileged children in Cameroon by making education at the very basic levels accessible to them
We sponsor children through;
Secondary School/ High School
University - (tbc)
Nursery and Primary education in Cameroon is free but children are still required to pay a PTA levy of 2500 CFA (approximately £2.10) to be enrolled in school. As meagre as this amount may seem, it is very true that some parents cannot afford this and children are left with no option but to stay at home.
We believe a £5 donation a year can make a huge difference to the lives of these children.
By the end of 2019/2018 academic year, we envisage we can take a good number of our best GCSE A/Level students through to University and career planning sessions to guide them into the right paths by implementing mentorship and shadowing activities so they can in-turn mentor other younger children under Teach Me To Fish tutelage.
We aim to alleviate poverty and create social and economic change to a country battered by decades of economic crisis. We envisage cooperating with local companies and organisations where we can create internship opportunities for children under TMTF tutelage who have completed their GCSE A/Levels to prepare them for the job market.
TMTF aims to help every child they sponsor reach their full potential through long-term aid and support to keep them in school for as long as possible provided they also show the willingness to stay in school and perform well academically.
Every child has the right to the highest standards of education and TMTF is underpinned by these values to make sure this is attained. Protecting the rights of every child, and investing in his/her well-being, is the surest way to end poverty and to build peace and security in the world.
Educating a child is the first step to inspiring a whole generation, and that is how Teach Me To Fish Foundation intends to achieve its goals in Cameroon.
"A dated Cameroon proverb says - teach a man to fish rather than give them fish every day" by funding the education of these children we are teaching them to fend for themselves in the future.
